Kallhane / Kallhane

Experimental, Rock, Trance, Jazz

"Kallhane," the self-titled debut album from the dynamic instrumental duo of Tom Harter (electric guitar) and Jason Kruk (drums), was recorded live at TRS Studios in Oshkosh, WI, on July 29, 2024. This collection highlights the duo’s skillful improvisation, blending rock, trance, jazz, and fusion into seven atmospheric and richly-textured compositions.

From the ethereal, Jeff Beck-inspired guitar on Unheard, Unknown to the primal rhythms of The Eagle Judges Icarus Harshly, the album offers a captivating journey. Broken, Undaunted and The White Door emphasize Robert Fripp-inspired loops and progressive jazz rhythms. Juno’s Lament channels epic, psychedelic rock with deeply textural guitar and drums, while Ellasandra is a quiet, introspective guitar ballad.

Each song unfolds organically, the result of the duo’s decades of experience in diverse musical styles. Harter’s electric guitar artistry, drawing on influences ranging from blues to metal core, is perfectly complemented by Kruk’s virtuosic drumming, influenced by his rich background in jazz and fusion. Their chemistry is palpable, capturing the essence of free-form, unencumbered creativity.

Kallhane’s debut is a testament to the beauty of spontaneous music creation. It is best experienced in long, immersive sessions—ideal for rainy days, road trips, or moments of deep reflection.

About Kallhane

Kallhane:
Kallhane is the rock-trance-jazz-fusion instrumental duo of Jason Kruk (drums) and Tom Harter (electric guitar). Kallhane captures the joy of pure improvisational music unencumbered by click tracks or expectation. Kallhane is the echo of teen musicians in basements given public voice through decades of experience. Kallhane always was and always shall be. Kallhane is.

Tom Harter:
Tom Harter is a guitarist, songwriter, and singer with over 40 years of experience on stages and in studios. Kallhane’s instrumental music coalesces these experiences and leans heavily into his improvisational and compositional electric guitar skills.

Jason Kruk:

He holds a B.A. from Lawrence University and an M.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas.
