Fantasía (single) by Kate Voss
Exotica-Latin-Jazz
An exciting romp through the thick of a strange and erotic encounter with a new lover, "Fantasía" blends together the ups and downs of a new fling. This fun-filled landscape of exotica-meets-Brazilian-Carnival beckons the listener to jump on board a wild tryst and live life to the fullest. And while this love affair may not last, the memory of this moment in time will live on in eternity. Originally inspired by the controversial book "Delta of Venus", this track is slow and sexy during the verses and overtly larger than life during the chorus. The expertly executed montuno solo section features a trance-like groove with melodica and guitar from wife/husband team Kate Voss/Jason Goessl and a killer rhythm section highlighting MPLS giants Jim Anton (bass) and Adrian Suarez (drums).
Artist Statement:
I wrote this song for a songwriting event put on by the Bushwick Bookclub in Seattle, WA. Several songwriters wrote a piece that was inspired by the book "Delta of Venus" in their own style. I chose to portray a whirlwind love affair on the shores of Rio de Janeiro amidst "carnivale" and in the song there is a distinct change of sounds between the verses and the chorus to emulate the tumultuous nature of a tryst with a stranger.
