Kate Voss and The Hot Sauce / Top Ten

Rockabilly, Blues, Swing

Kate Voss & The Hot Sauce's debut album "Top Ten" features 10 of the band's favorite tunes to play while on the road. All of these tunes are repackaged versions of popular American songs from the 1950's and 1960's including Brenda Lee's "I'm Sorry" and Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walking". The core trio of this group consists of Jason Goeesl on guitar, Mike Underwood on drums/bongos, and Kate Voss on vocals/bass/melodica. There are 6 tracks featuring exciting horn parts with Kurt Shipe on trumpet and Eric Koppa on tenor saxophone and the feel of each tune varies in genre from swing to rockabilly to pop ballads with an obvious appreciation for a retro style.

About Kate Voss

Hailing from the Emerald City, Kate Voss got her start in the club scene in Seattle playing with a variety of groups on piano. When her jazz studies were nearing an end and her musical interests could not be pinned down to a single genre, her teacher assigned her the title of "dilettante". Luckily for us all, that only inspired Kate to further explore other avenues for making music and ultimately brought her to form Kate Voss & The Hot Sauce which encompasses all the genres she loves. A true variety band, this act pulls from her varied background of jazz, blues, pop, country, western-swing, oldies, americana and rockabilly. As a full-time musician, Voss has cultivated a stage presence that charms and delights folks and a voice that "Nails the authenticity of the era" (JazzTimes) with tunes from Brenda Lee to Nancy Sinatra and Patsy Cline to Ray Charles. Kate has been awarded "Vocalist of the Year" and "Ensemble of the Year" from Earshot Magazine and after her move to Wisconsin in 2021, was nominated for several WAMI awards including Female Vocalist of the year, Instrumentalist of the year, Pop Artist of the Year, and Free Reed Player of the Year. As leader of this band, Kate sings lead vocals, plays the Ukulele Bass, and occasionally plays melodica while staying true to her one rule in this band: Kate says "We only play songs I love." Kate has been touring the country with her duo act Sundae + Mr. Goessl for the past decade performing thousands of shows in 40+ states. Her new book, "Melodica Method", was published in 2023 through Hal Leonard. Voss also runs an independent record label with her husband, Jason Goessl, and a boutique & bar in downtown Oshkosh called Can Can. Jason and Kate are expecting their first child this August and hope that the baby doesn’t dismay their rescue chihuahua (Jackie Osassis) too much.
