Mountains by Fractal Horizons

Psychedelic Ambient-Experimental-Soundtrack

Psychedelic ambient instrumental music created by layers of electric guitar. Inspired by mountains in the PNW and created live in one take at Jack Straw Studios in Seattle, guitarist/composer Jason Goessl takes us on a interdimensional trip through a sonically complex soundscape. In creating the gritty yet chill music of Fractal Horizons, Goessl also took inspiration from the great film directors Werner Herzog, David Lynch, Coen Brothers, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and Ron Fricke.

About Fractal Horizons

When guitarist Jason Goessl moved from the Midwest to the PNW he was in awe of the larger-than-life scenery surrounding him. Snow-capped mountains, crystal blue lakes, and fir trees as far as the eye could see. Inspired by this landscape, Goessl used (4) separate guitar amps with a chain of effects hooked up to each amp to create the multidimensional soundscape of Fractal Horizons. Encapsulating the lushness of Western Washington with a sound that is simultaneously out-of-this world and down to earth, Fractal Horizons explores the universal experience of looking within. This album was recorded with a grant from the Jack Straw Foundation in Seattle for Sonarchy Radio and was aired in its entirety on Dec. 19, 2016 at 12:01am on KEXP, an independent radio station based in Seattle, WA. Jason went on to collaborate with visual artist Scott James and released psychedelic ambient videos for each of the 10 tracks. Fractal Horizons is the predecessor of JG’s other ambient project Relaxatone. While Relaxatone has a purist motive in terms of frequency-based medicinal music, Fractal Horizons stands on its own merit as a sonically complex artistically-driven passion project.
